The dams at lake Rursee draw a horizon into a landscape that knows no horizon. These lines divide the formerly deep valley into a forest world and a water world.
Above this dividing horizon, the design is working with trees. The theme of the forest of the national park is transformed at the banks of Rurberg into a succession of different atmospheres essentially shaped by trees.
The characteristic of the dam in its horizontality and linearity is elaborated by a distinctive dam crest and is therefore the only place without trees. A shining landmark visible from a distance as a fine accent in the valley.
