The force and scale of both sea and city are clashing together at the Malecón. The Malecón wall is the frontier between these two powers – and this thin line is the only place for the poeple. The wall is crumbling under the pressure from both sides. It can no longer fullfill its purpose. We propose a sister wall that will unburden and support the old one. Brother and sister will enter into dialogue. In between them will emerge new types of urban spaces in a new kind of scale: the human scale.
