KoFabrik

The outdoor facilities of the Ko-Fabrik, historical headquarters of the Bochum ironworks, are a sequence of three courtyards. The narrow courtyard in the north next to the neighbourhood hall, the Werkhof as a robust workspace and the Ko-Hof, as the neighbourhood’s meeting place. Each courtyard is given a courtyard tree that interprets the theme of pioneer vegetation. All three courtyards are connected by a green spine and a long bench. The courtyards are not hermetically separated from each other but form a spatial-atmospheric interplay.

The picture shows the first construction phase with the new terrace and the gesture into the public space.
