The Bergisch Rainforest: In Germany’s rainiest major city, on the north side of the Goldzack factory, Japanese knotweed grows in a shady hollow. And the knotweed is here to remain! We interpret the vigorous growth and beauty of this plant as jungle-like lushness and add further layers of vegetation. An accessible boardwalk descends deeper and deeper into the space, while narrow trails wind their way through the greenery. A shelter collects water and fills a round pool deep down in the rainforest. A humid place—rich, impressive and poetic, we hope.
