Symbolically, circles cut the asphalt to make room for people and plants. The grid of dots remains walkable, allowing the experience of an absolutely new landscape in San Francisco. A space of fantastic views and amazing insights. Where if not in this place, a sense of tranquility and poetry is possible.
The Hydra begins a new life. It does not deny its past. But with the overlap of new uses and a new design, it becomes more than a monument to the age of mobility. The freeway becomes a living place and a unique space.
