Hydra

The freeway remains. The heads of the Hydra are cut off. New ends grow. Human and vegetative slowness replace inhuman speed. The space of movement becomes a space of calm and contemplation. Symbolically, circles cut the asphalt to make room for people and plants. The grid of dots remains walkable, allowing the experience of an absolutely new landscape in San Francisco. A space of fantastic views and amazing insights. Where if not in this place, a sense of tranquility and poetry is possible.

The Hydra begins a new life. It does not deny its past. But with the overlap of new uses and a new design, it becomes more than a monument to the age of mobility. The freeway becomes a living place and a unique space.
